I expect a litter of fabulous babies shortly and am looking for homes for some of them in January.
The buck is a cuddly Russian Silver Berkshire and the doe is a Black Self (no markings) and has produced show-winners in her first litter. (Please click on VIDEO on this ad to see the doe -- she's quite a sweetheart!)
I expect these babies will be Black Berkshires, so they will be black with white feet and some white on their bellies.
My rats are my own personal pets and I only breed 1-2 times per year. All my rats are handled every day.
My rats live in the house with me and my family in very large cages, but they come out every day to play. I often fold laundry with a rat on my shoulder and I can't recall the last time I watched a film without several rats milling about near me.
I am a member of National Fancy Rat Society (NRFS) and am mentored by an experienced breeder who has shown and bred rats for many, many years.
I'd like the babies to go to homes that give the same level of care and comfort that my rats have. It's not hard to provide!
These babies will be handled a great deal and given lots of toys and opportunities to play. You will be buying rats from someone who provides large clean cages, the highest quality food, lots of play and interaction, and who cares deeply about where every baby rat is homed.
Rats are happiest if they are housed with at least two other rats, so babies are best home in trios when possible unless you have other rats already to which you can introduce them. I am happy to advise on introductions.
None of the rats I home as pets may be used for breeding purposes.
However, if you want to learn how you can become a breeder, I can point you in the right direction through the National Fancy Rat Society.
If you wish to see more pictures, read articles about my rats and rats, generally, please see my website listed with this ad and my Facebook page, which is listed under Blue Apple Rattery.
Baby rats are only available once they are 8 weeks old.
